While planting for her new sun deck she wanted to add a splash of color but couldn’t quite find the right thing. All the planters looked alike, and the color wasn’t quite right with any of them. Until one day she visited Holger, a good friend with a truck repair shop, and discovered a small, empty green MOTOREX drum in a corner. After a quick clean and once the lid had been cut off, the drum was ready to hold a boxwood sapling. A few drainage holes also had to be drilled in the bottom to prevent stagnant water, says Kristina. Her sister, by the way, already has dibs on the next empty MOTOREX drum. Upcycling can be fun!
