There are still time-consuming processes in industrial manufacturing that have to be carried out “by hand”. Under the Industry 4.0 concept, the next logical step to take is automating process fluid management. The MOTOREX Swisscare Management System meets the metalworking industry's current need for more automation. Our interview with Marcel Herzog, team leader for large parts manufacturing at Gressel AG Spanntechnik in Aadorf, illustrates how the MOTOREX solution can yield massive improvements in efficiency and sustainability. What are the key factors in that choice? The machining fluid needs to be usable for all applications. It is enormously important for us to have constant conditions for working all materials. We also want our machining fluid to be durable. That’s essential for us to achieve optimal process reliability. Would you recommend MOTOREX to fellow businesses in the industry? What are your objectives for automating process fluid management? Our overarching goal is to achieve cost savings to improve the economics of our production operations. But autonomous filling of machining fluid tanks and reducing employee effort were also factors in our decision. You’re mainly citing benefits from a business perspective. Does using the MOTOREX solution also impact your sustainability? The extended service life lets us improve sustainability in the sense of environmental protection by generally using less concentrate and disposing of less waste. We’re finding that we’re consuming 10 – 15 % less compared to our old solution. What has been your experience with MOTOREX in terms of workplace quality? The machine shop stays clean. The amount of effort from our staff is significantly reduced, leaving them with more time for other activities.
