PRACTICE Mobile

PRACTICE Mobile agricultural machinery with modern reduced-emission (tier 3b and 4) diesel engines is already in widespread use even where not required by law. This equipment requires a suitable low-SAPS engine oil. Photo: Agroscope/Hänni, Witzwil LESS IS MORE: FARMER LA SAE 10W/40 In Switzerland as elsewhere, tractors and mobile machin ery with sophisticated exhaust gas treatment systems are increasingly making inroads in agriculture. With exhaust gas post-treatment systems such as EGR, de-NOx catalytic converters, particulate filters and SCR, an all-out assault on pollution in under way. As a result, tractor makers are joining other manufacturers in requiring higher engine oil specifications. Use of low-SAPS motor oils with only minimal sulfate ash (SA), phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S) content has become a permanent fixture in the regulations governing oils. Accordingly, the specifications of the motor oil used should always match the manufacturer’s recommendations. This is the only way to ensure a long service life for the engine and the installed exhaust gas treatment systems. THE LATEST LOW-SAPS GENERATION The newly developed FARMER LA SAE 10W/40, a highperformance engine oil of the latest low-SAPS genera- tion, is a timely addition to the MOTOREX FARMER LINE. Since current low-emission engines differ in numerous design aspects from conventional engines, it is essential to observe the manufacturer’s specifications for oil. FAR- MER LA’s innovative formula with low-ash additives and a sulfur-free base fluid also make it suitable for Euro 4 and 5 engines. SERVICE INCLUDED As always, MOTOREX not only provides the user with the right lubricant, but also with dependable and knowledgeable advice. When good, well-qualified advice makes it possible to choose just the right range of lubricants for each vehicle fleet, the results are quickly apparent in lower inventory costs and less tied-up capital, while still always having the right lubricant at hand. Please contact your MOTOREX partner or the MOTOREX Technical Service if you have any questions. • FARMER LA SAE 10W/40 SPECIFICATIONS ACEA E9, E7 API CJ-4, CI-4, CH-4, CG-4/ SN, SM Deutz DQC III-10 LA Safety + Performance MB 228.31 MAN 3575 RENAULT RLD-3 CAT ECF-3 EMISSION REGULATIONS FOR OFF-ROAD MACHINES AND VEHICLES (EPA and EU) 37–560 kW (50-750 hp) PM (g/kWh) 8 6 4 2 Key: 0 0 2 4 6 8 10 NOx (g/kWh) Tier 1/stage I 1996–1999 8 6 4 2 0 0 2 4 6 8 10 NOx + HC (g/kWh) Tier 2/stage II 2001–2004 8 6 4 2 0 0 2 4 6 8 10 NOx + HC (g/kWh) Tier 3/stage III A 2006–2008 37–56 kW (50–74 hp) 50–74 kW (75–99 hp) 75–129 kW (100–173 hp) 130–560 kW (174–750 hp) 8 6 4 2 0 0 2 4 6 8 10 NOx (g/kWh) Interim Tier 1/stage III B 2008–2013 8 6 4 2 0 0 2 4 6 8 10 NOx + HC (g/kWh) Final Tier 4/stage IV 2012–2015 NOx – Oxides of nitrogen that react with hydrocarbons (HC) HC – Hydrocarbon, a by-product of the combustion process PM – Particle mass, ultrafine solids produced by combustion EPA = United States Environmental Protection Agency 20

MOTOLINE Photo: KTM/hoppenworld.com Ryan Dungey, successful KTM works team rider (USA) Off-road motorcyclists love the landscape and are on first-name terms with Dirt & Co. The new AIR FILTER CLEANING KIT assures them success in caring for their air filters. ALL-IN-ONE: AIR FILTER CLEANING KIT Foam air filters require regular cleaning and care – the alternative is declining performance and increasing wear. A familiar problem that most off-road riders prefer to tackle on their own. But all too often one product or another gets left lying in the shop somewhere... With the tried-and-tested MOTOREX AIR FILTER CLEANING KIT, everything is always at hand. EVERYTHING YOU NEED UNDER THE LID Dust has an annoying way of penetrating through even the smallest cracks. You don’t have to be a motocross rider or cross deserts to know what we mean. That’s why MOTOREX has packed its cleaning kit in a practical round bucket with a carrying handle. The AIR FILTER CLEANING KIT consists of: • 4 l AIR FILTER CLEANER BIODEGRADABLE • 1 l AIR FILTER OIL 206 • 100 g GREASE 2000 • 1 PE cleaning bucket • 1 PE oil container • 1 dirt separation screen • 4 pairs of gloves • MOTOREX adhesive and instructions in German, French and English The complete cleaning kit is ready for service anytime, anywhere – at the racetrack, for example. The big bucket for cleaning filters can be easily carried in one hand and makes an ideal package even if it’s raining. PRODUCTS FOR MORE AIR Many people still erroneously clean foam air filters with solvents - a bad idea, since gasoline and similar solvents degrade the filter structure and glued spots. MOTOREX AIR FILTER CLEANER and AIR FILTER OIL 206 were deve l- oped for racing in cooperation with racing teams and leading motorcycle manufacturers like KTM. Successful international riders such as Ryan Dungey, Cyril Despres, David Knight, Mat Rebeaud and many others are fans of the MOTOREX AIR FILTER CLEANING KIT. It’s time to bring the innovative kit to your customers’ attention once again. Lots of luck, and a trophy or two for your riders! • After it has soaked in MOTOREX AIR FILTER CLEANER for ten minutes or so, the filter can be rinsed under running water. Next, dip the filter in MOTOREX AIR FILTER OIL 206 in the small separate oil bucket and gently wring it out. MOTOREX MAGAZINE I APRIL 2012 21
