KNOW-HOW SUNSHADE PROS RELY ON PTFE The Griesser Group, one of Europe’s largest producers of blinds, roller shutters and awnings, takes full advantage of the benefits of MOTOREX PTFE dry lubricant. An interview with Toni Wasescha, Service & Care Manager. Toni Wasescha, Service & Care Manager at Griesser AG, Aadorf MOTOREX magazine: “Mr. Wasescha, how long have you been using MOTOREX’s innovative PTFE dry lubricant spray?” Toni Wasescha: “All the systems we install are essentially maintenance-free. But we’ve found that using a spray containing PTFE (also known under the brand name Teflon®) yields a number of benefits in applications involving greater exposure to elements such as heat, frost and snow. So this summer we introduced a care line for use both by our service installers and property owners.” MOTOREX magazine: “Where exactly do you use the PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene, a semi-crystalline synthetic polymer) spray?” Toni Wasescha: “We apply the dry lubricant to all mechanical components that require permanent protection and lubrication. For example, we apply a very thin layer – about 5 μm – of PTFE during assembly and inspection of rotary and universal joints, spindles and chain hoists. The dry lubricant has excellent adhesive strength and sliding properties and is resistant to water and extreme temperatures. What’s more, the PTFE spray also has an anti-static effect.” MOTOREX magazine: “Why didn’t you choose a spray containing oil?” Toni Wasescha: “We tested a few sprays and have a great deal of experience in this area. Sprays containing oil are completely unsuitable for our kinds of applications. The lubricant we apply must be effective in small quantities and absolutely non-dripping. MOTOREX PTFE can also be used on awnings and indoors, for example near curtains and fine porous floor coverings such as marble. It’s also handy that the can still sprays even when upside-down.” MOTOREX magazine: “What’s your final word on your experience with PTFE?” Toni Wasescha: “PTFE spray is an important part of Griesser’s care line. We use it as a precautionary measure, so to speak, to maintain the high quality standard of our products. We’ve had a lot of positive feedback from our service engineers and end customers.” • The PTFE spray from MOTOREX in Griesser AG’s line of care products is recommended for all lubrication and sliding applications MOTOREX MAGAZINE I DECEMBER 2009 13
